Meetings

Originally organized as the Lubbock Photographic Society in the early 1970's, the club's original focus was on 35mm film photography, darkroom work, and presentation of final photographs. Rebranded as the Lubbock Camera Club in the early 80s, the club now embraces digital photography, the digital editing process and all the creativity and beauty it affords. Our meetings are a celebration of the process as we gather to learn, hone the craft, and share our mutual love beyond the lens.Programs, on alternating months, include these two formats:

show-and-tell competition

Ideally, show-and-tell competitions consist of each member bringing one entry for each of two categories: One category selected by the membership (differs each meeting) and an “Open” category.Members observe and judge each entry, scores are averaged and members are able to see how they fared in the competition soon after the meeting. At the end of the year, these scores are compiled and the member with the highest average is named Photographer of the Year.During the meeting, each entry is also analyzed by the membership with an emphasis on growth opportunities for the photographer and understanding the photographer's point of view.Category examples include:

  • Wheels

  • Sunrise or Sunset

  • Lightning

educational programs

Members enjoy educational and entertaining programs from members, as well as online and other resources, focusing on subjects that help elevate any photographer's skill level.Examples of educational programs include:

  • Macro Photography

  • Photographing Space-X

  • Pet Photography
